Parent & Child
Parent/Toddler Water Orientation • Ages 6 months – 2 years
Accompany your child in the pool to learn methods that help him/her enjoy and respect the water environment through movement exploration, songs, and games.
Toddler Swim & Gym • Ages 1 – 2
Parents & their little ones explore the adventures of the gymnastics center through creative movement. You then venture down to the pool for water fun.
Perch • Ages 18 mon – 3 yrs
The perfect step between Parent & Toddler Water Orientation and Pike. Children learn to move independently through the water under a parent's guidance. Instructor guides parents to teach their children basic swimming skills.
Sunfish • Ages 3 – 5
Prerequisite: None. 1 parent for each child. Teacher/Student Ratio 1:6. A class where parents teach their child PIKE level skills (see PIKE description), under the guidance of a YMCA swim instructor. Using YMCA’s methods and techniques, your child will learn through you. As your child is ready, the instructor will take over more of the instruction.
Preschool
PIKE • Preschool Ages 3-5 ![]()
Prerequisite: None. Beginner Level. Teacher/Student Ratio1:5. New Skills: Introduced to front and back floating with concentration on putting faces in the water, flutter kicking, and pulling with barbell.
EEL • Preschool Ages 3-5 ![]()
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Pike skills.Swimmers must also be able to put their faces in the water. New Skills: Instruction of paddle stroke without assistanceand sit dive.
RAY • Preschool Ages 3-5 ![]()
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Eel skills. Must beable to paddle swim unassisted 20 feet. Intermediate/Advanced. Teacher/Student Ratio 1:5. NewSkills: Instruction of front and back crawl and kneel dive. Introduced to rotary breathing.
STARFISH • Preschool Ages 3-5
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Ray skills. Must beable to swim front crawl 20 feet. Advanced. Teacher/StudentRatio 1:5. New Skills: Instruction of front crawl with rotary breathing, back crawl, treading water. Introduced to standing dives and swimming in the large pool.
Youth
POLLIWOG • Youth Ages 6-12
Prerequisite: None. Beginner. Teacher/Student Ratio 1:5. New Skills: Introduced to front and back floats, front and back crawl, and sit dive.
GUPPY • Youth Ages 6-12
Prerequisite: Must be able to float front and back and swim half of the pool length on front and back. Advanced Beginner. Teacher/Student Ratio 1:6. New Skills: Instruction of front crawl with rotary breathing; back symmetrical paddle; surface, kneel, and standing dives.
MINNOW • Youth Ages 6-12
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim full length of pool on front and back. Initial Intermediate. Teacher/Student Ratio1:8. New Skills: Instruction of elementary backstroke and treading water. Introduced to breaststroke and increasing swimming distance in front & back crawl.
FISH • Youth Ages 6-12
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 continuous yards anystroke. Intermediate. Teacher/Student Ratio 1:8. New Skills: Instruction of breaststroke. Introduced to dolphin kick and diving off the block and increasing endurance on all strokes.
FLYING FISH • Youth Ages 6-12
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 100 continuous yards any stroke. Advanced. Teacher/Student Ratio 1:8. New Skills: Instruction on butterfly and increasing endurance on all strokes.
SHARK • Youth Ages 6-12
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 200 continuous yards any stroke. Advanced. Teacher/Student Ratio 1:8. New Skills: Instruction on sidestroke and flip turns and improving technique.
Private Swim Lessons
One instructor per child. Lesson times to be set-up with instructor. Three 30-minute Lessons.
Semi–Private Swim Lessons
Two children per instructor. Lesson times to be set-up with instructor. Fees are per swimmer. Six 30-minute Lessons.
Backyard Pool Swim Lessons
Do you have a backyard pool? Do you have at least 3 children in your neighborhood that want swim lessons in that pool? Do you want your kids to learn a life-long skill that may save their life? We will send our instructors out to your pool and teach the YMCA swim lessons there. Please call Jeff Johnson at 635-3859 for more information. Six one-hour lessons recommended.
SEAY Swim Team
SEAY is the Y’s year-round competitive swim team that competes in weekend meets throughout Wisconsin. Currently there are 136 swimmers on the team ranging in age from 5 to 18. Practice is offered Monday through Saturday at local high schools and here at the Y. SEAY is comprised of swimmers ranging in ability from Minnow level to YMCA National Qualifiers.

SEAY Swim Team Tryouts
Tryouts for the SEAY Swim Team will be offered on Monday, June 4 beginning at 5:30 pm at Park High School
Swimmers must demonstrate 25-yards Freestyle, 25-yards Backstroke, and be safe in deep water. There is no sign-up for Tryouts. Hope to SEA-You there!
Returning & New Family Registration/Orientation
Summer Season will take place on Monday, June 11 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Park High School
