Strong Kids/Strong Communities
The YMCA's Annual Effort to Support Those Less Fortunate
For more than a century, the Racine Family YMCA has provided quality programs and services for area youth, adults, and families, responding with appropriate programs to meet the needs of residents regardless of their ability to pay. The "Y" is synonymous with outstanding recreation facilities, but it is far more than that. It offers unique programs to ensure the strength of youth and families in our community.
Today's Racine Family YMCA is dedicated to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities, and is positioned better than ever before to positively affect the lives of community youth and families. While the number of members remains high, the cost of membership doesn't completely support the other "good things" that the YMCA does for people in the community who need what the YMCA provides but can't afford to pay the full cost.
Donations from last year’s campaign helped hundreds of families experience the positive effects of YMCA programs and activities. In 2010 the YMCA helped:
-
More than 1000 youth to take swim lessons.
-
3,000 youth and families to receive program/membership scholarships totaling over $400,000.
-
180 inner city youth to participate in the Young Leaders Academy.
-
225 youth the enjoyment a quality day camp experience.
-
75 youth access to before and after school care.
-
100 fathers to benefit from parenting classes.
-
More than 700 youth to enjoy a sports experience
With the continued ongoing support of the Racine community, the Racine Family YMCA will be able to raise through its Strong Kids/Strong Community Annual Support Campaign, the $125,000 needed in 2011 so that it can continue to impact community youth and families through quality programming, insuring that everyone can participate.
